The duchess deal (girl meets duke #1)
Emma Gladstone is in dire needs of the funds she should have gotten for sewing a wedding dress. So when the expectant bride calls off her wedding to the battle scarred Duke of Ashbury, Emma shows up at the Duke's doorstep wearing said dress to demand the payment for the time and effort it took her to make it. The Duke agrees to pay for it as soon as she hands over the dress. Or she can marry him and give him an heir. As crazy as the plot seems, I love a good Beauty and the Beast retelling and this book was certainly that. This book is definitely a bit spicier and more explicit than other historical romances, but I loved the relationship that "Ash" and Emma built from their initial "give me an heir" agreement.SEE VIDEO BY TOPIC: Enjoy Best Of Tessa Dare Audible Audiobooks, Starring: The Governess Game: Girl Meets Duke Series,

A gown that showed my best handiwork, on display at one of the largest social events of the Season. Get out of the house. Take me with you.
I keep them in a little book and pore over it from time to time, whilst sipping brandy and indulging in throaty, ominous laughter. Surely you know the feeling of infatuation. Everyone does. About me.

Beauty and the Beast is my favorite fairy tale so of course I was super excited to read this authors version of it and once again Tessa Dare did not disappoint. I really enjoyed this funny and charming marriage of convenience! Vicar daughter Emma Gladstone learned the hard way to depend solely on herself. What she gets instead is a marriage offer. Of course rules are meant to be broken and what ensues is a battle of wits, lots of teasing and more than both bargained on. I love broken heroes and the grumpy Ashbury with his very sarcastic outlook on life was perfect! I loved the fact that he was attracted to Emma from the first moment he met her and how her wit and backbone of steel made him decide that he had to have her as his wife.

I realize I may not be as captivating as a shuttlecock or a decanter of brandy, but I am your wife. The woman who is to be the mother of your child. She might not win this silly game, but she was determined to triumph eventually. The battle began here and now. I was merely lobbing you the shuttlecock. Thank you, darling. This time, he was the one to stand still in the center of the court. To her surprise, Emma managed to scramble under the falling missile and return it.
