The 35 Best Gifts for Teenage Girls, According to Teenagers
Gabi Mann has recieved more than 60 trinkets from the crows she feeds in her garden. Many animal lovers put out seed for their local birds and enjoy watching them in their gardens but not many people get presents in return.
Gabi Mann, 8, from Seattle has received more than 60 gifts from a flock of crows she feeds everyday. As a small girl she would often drop bits of her lunch and the crows who realised she was a good source of food were drawn to her. Every morning they would fill the bird bath with fresh water, leave peanuts on the side and scatter bits of dog food on the lawn.
Her mum, Lisa, said: "For the most part the common denominator is that they're shiny and small enough to fit in their mouths but other than that we don't know what some of these things are. She meticulously catalogues all of the presents recording when and where the birds delivered them. She said: "This is a key chain and they gave it to me which says 'best' and I don't know if they have the part that says 'friend'.
I do have another earring but it's not a match. You could put this on for your college dance night but then your boyfriend will say these don't match.
She is incredibly protective of the collection of items which include beads, pieces of lego and jewellery. It looks like a feather because it's shiny and it's black. Gabi knows the gifts are for her as the birds leave them on the bird feeders or next to the water bowls.
The eight-year-old said of her incredible collection: "This should be put in a museum". Gabi's enchanting story was uncovered by Katy Sewall , a journalist, as part of her podcast The Bittersweet Life.
The 8-year-old said: "They know that I like lego, shiny things, wow, they are my type". But it's not just through the assortment of gifts that the crows have shown their closeness to Gabi and her mum. She said: "I was out taking pictures of a bald eagle, I knew I dropped a lens cap when I was switching cameras. Incredibly the crows had not only retrieved the lens cap but carefully washed it in the bird bath before placing it on the side for Lisa to find. By Nicola Bartlett Political Correspondent.
