Congratulations on your pregnancy! I am a New Zealand trained registered midwife and I feel privileged being a part of helping new life safely into this world and working in partnership alongside women on this life-changing journey. I aim to work with you and your wider support networks to achieve the most out of your pregnancy, birth and adjustment to life with a new family member. I believe in women-centred individualised care and supporting women in achieving a positive birth experience, making sure the safety of mother and baby is maintained is my upmost priority at all times.

I am dedicated to providing professional, supportive, empowering and non-judgmental midwifery care throughout your pregnancy, birth and up to six weeks after the birth of your baby. My clinic is based in Albany, I work alongside a team of experienced and supportive midwives at Maternity Associates, and I offer births at North Shore Hospital.

My role as a midwife is to offer individualised, holistic, woman-centred care based around informed choice and education. It is important for me to empower women and their family to take control of their pregnancy, labour, birth and future.

I work on the North Shore, of Auckland in a well established midwifery practice. The birth of my own children has lead me to my becoming a midwife, and being an independent midwife works very well for me in fulfilling my midwifery and parenting roles. Pregnancy and birth are a special time in your life, therefore it is very important to me that my caseload is of a size where I feel I can offer the women I care for the best service where I am not to busy to spend time with them. Each of you will have different needs and it is important you are treated as an individual.

I see my role as a facilitator of the birth process whilst encouraging women and their partners to make decisions regarding the care they require. Hoping that by the time they are discharged from my care they have had the birth experience they hoped for and have made the transition into parenthood confidently.

I provide antenatal care to women in their home if they have no transport, otherwise at Maternity Associates. All postnatal care is provided in the community for up to 6 weeks. Congratulations on finding yourself on the journey to motherhood.

I believe pregnancy and childbirth are normal life events and should be protected and celebrated as such. Working as a hospital based core midwife I missed the continuity of care that LMC midwifery practice allows, caring for women from the early antenatal period right through delivery into the postnatal period until discharge at four to six weeks following birth. I aim to work in full partnership with each woman.

Which I do by giving and sharing information so each woman can make informed choices on her pregnancy journey. I have been a registered midwife since , I graduated in the UK and worked as a staff midwife at two busy maternity units. More recently I have been working here at Maternity Associates as our practice manager and as an LMC at our experienced midwifery practice. I am married to Norman and we have three daughters.

In my spare time I love to do things with my family and walk our dogs. I moved from the UK in and have 4 beautiful children. Experiencing childbirth sparked my passion for midwifery and the unique partnership between a midwife, the woman and her family is so precious and was something I knew I wanted to be apart of.

I believe pregnancy and birth are normal life events that should be celebrated and treasured. My role as a midwife is to empower you throughout your journey offering evidence based information which will help you make the best decision for you and your growing family. I offer continuity of care to women throughout the antenatal, labour and birth. Following the birth of your baby visits will continue at home for up to 6 weeks as you transition into parenthood. I am able to provide antenatal visits at home if required.

Working in a large practice allows me to access a wealth of knowledge with other health professionals. I work closely with Hannah Stevens who also shares the same philosophies as myself. Chelsea Paisey Mobile Number: Hannah Stevens Mobile Number: I offer births at North Shore Hospital and home.

These midwives provide full continuity of midwifery care to pregnant women during pregnancy, labour, birth and for 4 — 6 weeks after birth. All Midwifery care is fully subsidized for NZ citizens and residents and holders of current 2 year work visas. These midwives are self-employed so manage their own bookings you will need to contact them directly if you want to make an appointment to register with one of them.

Maternity care is care provided to you during your pregnancy, labour and birth, and up to 6 weeks after your baby is born, and care provided to your baby for the first six weeks. Maternity care is provided to you by a midwife free or a private obstetrician not free. Your LMC will provide regular care and check ups for you during your pregnancy, attend your labour and birth, and check on you and baby regularly after the birth. If you have a more complex pregnancy or have underlying medical conditions your care will be provided by your LMC and a team of doctors and midwives from the hospital.

Your First Choice in Pregnancy & Birth Care

The Midwifery Council does not employ or recommend midwives, we do hold the Register of Midwives. Simply type in the name of your midwife, and the Register will show if they have a current practising certificate and other information such as their qualifications and any conditions on their practice. In New Zealand, registration is for life, so midwives remain in the Register even when they are not practising. This is a good option. Most new mothers are happy to pass on the contact details for their midwife if she was happy with the maternity care she received. Your GP can discuss your options for maternity care and will have contact details of midwives in the area. This phone line is run by the Ministry of Health. If you cannot find a Lead Maternity Care midwife then please ring the community midwifery team of your local hospital.
